XDAQ Acquisition Systems

Hardware
Acquisition systems recording at 30 kHz and 16 bits in record or record-plus-stimulate mode, engineered and manufactured by Kontex and commercialized by NeuroNexus.

What all three share

30 kHz sampling, 16-bit resolution, Thunderbolt 3+ to the computer, with USB3 and Ethernet also available. Headstages connect over micro-HDMI. All three run in record and record-plus-stimulate modes, and all three synchronize their inputs on one clock rather than aligning streams afterwards.

Where they differ

record channelsthroughput unitspowervideoopto channelsmass
ALL-IN-ONE1,02416DCyes43.05 kg
ONE+51216DCno02.81 kg
CORE25128USB-Cno0900 g

Channel count is what you buy. The decision is usually something else: whether the rig travels. CORE2 runs off USB-C at 900 g, so it goes to a shared scope, a surgical suite or another building without a power search. ALL-IN-ONE does not move, and in exchange carries the whole experiment — 1,024 channels, synchronized video, and four optogenetic channels on the same clock as the neural data. ONE+ sits between them: full throughput units and mains power, without the video and opto.

Throughput units and channels are different numbers

Throughput units govern how many headstage ports can stream at once; record channels govern how much is captured. CORE2 has half the throughput units of ONE+ at the same 512 channels, so the two differ in how many headstages can run simultaneously, not in total capacity.

GPIO

ALL-IN-ONE and ONE+ carry 8 analog in, 8 analog out and 32 digital I/O; CORE2 carries 7, 7 and 31.
