Packaging for the rDBSA research arrays, carrying up to 40 individually addressable contacts from a long shank to the connector, with a protective housing chosen per build.

What the assembly has to preserve

The experimental point of an rDBSA is that each contact is separately addressable — which contact stimulated, which recorded, and the known distance between them. The package's job is to carry that property intact from a long, slim shank to the connector without grouping or sharing anything.

Catalog builds run 32 and 40 channels (the 40-channel rDBSA Rigid carries 32 stimulating and 8 recording contacts), at cable lengths of 35, 45 and 60 mm for STN and GP trajectories.

Housing is a selection criterion

Builds differ in protective covering: 353 epoxy, a 3D-printed polymer case, or a 3D-printed titanium housing. The choice follows the preparation — epoxy is the lightest and lowest profile, a printed case protects the junction in a cage, titanium is for the implant that has to survive handling in a large animal. It is fixed at build, not changed afterwards.
